Religious Freedom And State Power During A Pandemic: An Analysis of the Quarantine Regulations in the Philippines through Constitutional Jurisprudence

ABSTRACT
This paper argues, based on jurisprudence, that there are quarantine restrictions that unjustly restrict the proper exercise of religious freedom, together with its attendant rights, which is why a middle ground policy must be pursued. It answers the following questions: 1) 1) How do quarantine restrictions unjustly affect religious freedom? 2) How can the State’s police power validly regulate religious practices during a public health crisis? 3) How can the Church and State work together in addressing the effects of the pandemic without violation their separation?
